Main Research Interests

"To me, bioinformatics has an inherent 'cool factor' because it challenges our approaches to analytics, pushes the envelope on performance, and offers a compelling example for a web services-based industry." - James Gosling

In this spirit I started my studies here at the MPI for Marine Microbiology in 2006 after finishing my studies in computer science. So far, I have been busy with projects focusing on data integration (www.megx.net), consistent contextual data acquisition (MetaBar and CDinFusion) and the analysis of large scale metagenomic datasets. Furthermore, I have been involved in standards development for biological sequence data (MIxS). For further information, have a look at my publications and posters listed here.
