Research interests
My research explores how the global carbon cycle and climate are changing and how reliably we can predict their future evolution under the combined influence of internal climate variability and human-induced stressors. I combine Earth system modeling, observations, and machine learning to uncover the processes that shape climate variability and predictability, carbon-climate feedbacks, and ecosystem responses across timescales. By linking observation-initialized predictions for the coming years with large-ensemble projections extending to the end of the century and beyond, I aim to build a seamless picture of future climate, carbon cycle, ocean extremes, as well as their cascading impacts on marine ecosystems.
