Practical information

It MA(t)TER(s) 2024 will take place at the MPI for Marine Microbiology, Celsiusstraße 1, 28359 Bremen

Participation in the conference is free of charge for members of the MPI Bremen and Marburg. We will provide some lunch, dinner and refreshments for participants with scientific contribution or logo design, invited speakers to the sessions and workshops, and IMPRS coordinators.

Unfortunately, we will not be able to provide food for lunch on Tuesday, May 14. There is the possibility to go to the Uni Bremen Mensa which is very close to the MPI and provides a broad range of food (warm meals, sandwiches, salads, pasta, etc.). However, this must be paid privately. There are also a few other options, bakeries and supermarkets around the campus. Participants from Marburg may be able to get some money back from their MPI if they indicate that they had to pay for their lunch in their travel application.

Participants without contribution are welcome to attend the presentation and poster sessions. However, we cannot invite them for the workshops as we would like to keep the group small to facilitate interactions. We do not count them in for food neither due to budget restrictions.

Participants joining from Marburg are asked to take care of their accommodation in Bremen and arrange their travelling plan (remember that opening a travel application may be necessary). Please contact the Marburg Doctoral Reps for more information.

People who would like to take part in the yoga workshop should, if possible, bring their own mat or a thick towel. We may have a few extra mats but cannot guarantee that there will be enough for everyone. Bring some clothes in which you feel comfortable!

Should you have any question, please email [Bitte aktivieren Sie Javascript] or [Bitte aktivieren Sie Javascript]

Information for scientific contributions

All participants with abstracts should have received an email indicating the session in which they will present and the type of contribution which they were given. If you have not, please email [Bitte aktivieren Sie Javascript]

Oral presentations:

The keynote speakers will give 30 minute-long presentations followed by 10-15 minutes of questions. Other participants giving talks will have 20 minutes for the presentation and 5-10 minutes of questions.

Presentations can be uploaded in advance using this link to easily access the slides on the day of the talk. It is also possible to bring the slides on a USB stick. You can even do both to avoid technical issues). Before the start of your session, contact an organizer (we will later indicate who is responsible for this task) to check that the slides appear as expected.

Posters:

We ask you to print your poster before the conference and bring it with you on May 13th. All posters will be hung at the beginning of the conference.

The poster format is very flexible to accommodate everyone. We will have large boards available on which formats up to A0 should fit. Landscape formats will probably also fit. If not, ask an organizer for help and we will help you put two boards next to each other.

Registration

The registration is now closed. We will soon communicate on a more detailed program and provide an abstract booklet.

Participants with poster contributions who have not yet done so should submit their abstract until Friday, April 26 using this link.

The abstracts should be written in English and not exceed 250 words.

Do not hesitate to contact us if anything is unclear.

Suggestions for a new logo

The logo design submission is now closed.

We are looking for a new It MA(t)TER(s) logo! The submissions will be shown to the It MA(t)TER(s) 2024 participants and a vote will be organized during the conference. There will be a small present for people submitting a design.

The logo should contain :
- The correctly spelled name of the conference: "It MAT(t)TER(s)"
- A representation of the MPI Marburg AND Bremen in any form

Please state it if you used AI to create the design.
