General

The institutes confocal laser scanning microscope (CLSM) is a Zeiss LSM 510 mounted on a motorized, upright microscope stand. The system is equipped with four different laser, allowing the excitation of nearly all common fluorescent dyes in microbiological applications.

The instrument is located at room 2220, telefon 923.

According to safety regulations (laser hazard class IIIb instrument with laser components up to class IV) a personal introduction to the system is mandatory for every new user! The introduction will be given by Andreas Ellrott or Katrin Knittel on request. In addition to the safety reason it will provide a deeper inside into the system and software, in order to get not only ‘nice’ but scientific correct images.
