Future Day for Girls and Boys at the Max Planck Institute for Marine Microbiology

Bremen, 25 April 2013

Ocean acidification was the topic for the girls and boys visiting the Max Planck Institute for Martine Microbiology. How does carbon dioxide change the pH in water? They already knew that carbon dioxide is a green house gas, but they had no clue about the acidic effect. The young scientists experimented on their own and were told to document their findings in a scientific protocol. They got help from Anna Hanke, Tomas Wilkop, Gunter Wegener and Manfred Schloesser. The young scientists became aware that science requires patience and exact preparation, as some of the experiments took more time than expected.
