User identification to use the computer appliances and networks

Who is an authorised user?

The authorised user of the network gets an user identification which also involves a password for using the network (Internet, Intranet, etc.).

Who can become an authorised user?

After confirmation of the institute´s management all co-workers of the Max-Planck-Institute for Marine Microbiology and guests can become authorised users.

How to become an authorised user?

To become an authorised user the application of receipt of a user identification has to be presented. This application has to be signed by the institute´s administration and to be returned to the Computing Department. After the Computing Department has created the user identification the co-worker / guest has to activate it in the Computing Department by inserting a password.

What to do with an user identification?

After receipt of the user identification the co-worker / guest is allowed to use various services (communication, print, server, etc.) Please see Services.

User obligation

The user is obliged to use the data processing services of the Max-Planck-Institute for Marine Microbiology in accordance to the user rules. Misuse leads to immediate disconnecting .

Occurence of problems

When will the user identification be disconnected?

The user identification will be disconnected after occurence of misuse according to the user rules. Three months after leaving the Max-Planck-Institute for Marine Microbiology or after the deadline of the user period the user idenfication will be disconnected.

How to prolong an user identification?

After the deadline of the user period has passed, the co-worker / guest will be informed in writing to prolong the user identification by application for prolongation of the user period. If no prolongation is made, the user identification will be disconnected 3 months after the deadline. All data concerning this user identification will be deleted.
