Wir waren bei Science is Wonderful! 2026
Katarina Tvrdić joined the Marine Transmissible Cancers Research Group in February 2026 for a three-month research stay under the Erasmus+ internship programme.
Katarina is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Marine Ecology and Protection at the University of Split, Croatia, after completing a Bachelor's degree in Marine Biology and Technology at the same institution. The Erasmus+ internship program provides an excellent opportunity for students to gain international research experience, develop practical laboratory skills, and engage with interdisciplinary scientific environments.
During her Erasmus internship, Katarina contributed to ongoing projects at the Marine Transmissible Cancers Research Group . Her work included molecular and diagnostic approaches used in the laboratory, including DNA extraction from tissues and hemolymph, PCR optimization, cytological diagnosis of hemolymph samples, and initial training in histological processing workflows. She also participated in weekly group meetings, where she presented updates on her work and developed scientific communication skills.
We thank Katarina for her enthusiasm, motivation, and contributions to the group, and we wish her all the best in the next steps of her scientific career.
If you are a Bachelor or Master student enrolled at an EU university and interested in joining the group for a short-term research internship with us, please send a letter email with your CV and a short description of your interests to [Bitte aktivieren Sie Javascript] .
